About
Imagine waking up everyday to the roar of a lion instead of the ringing of an alarm clock. In fact, you won’t find much in the way of clocks here, because time stands still and days are governed by the sunrise and sunset that passes over the African bushveld. Welcome to Savanna, a private game reserve where getting back in touch with nature is encouraged.
Situated on the famous Sabi Sand Reserve in the Kruger National Park, Savanna offers its guests fantastic Big Five viewing. Enjoy the spectacular sights of the lion, elephant, rhino, buffalo and leopard on a private game drive or game walk with your friends and family – a really unique experience that is definitely at the top of South African tourism.
The rangers at Savanna have many years of experience guiding in the Sabi Sand reserve and share some great insight into the flora and fauna of the area and take you on their favourite routes along the pathways of this 10 000 hectare expanse of land. Watch as wild life drink from the many dams and watering holes in the area and keep an ear out for the over 400 bird species that nest in its trees.
Accommodation
The accommodation at Savanna has been described as colonial with modern touches. Transporting you back to a time of leisurely safaris and gin and tonics at sunset with no sound except the cicada beetles in the grass. Guests can choose between the Luxury Suites, Executive Suites or the Savanna Suite.
The Savanna suite really is your own slice of oversized luxury surrounded by secluded bushveld. Perfect for families or groups of friends, those staying in this beautifully appointed suite can enjoy a private butler and private game viewing vehicle with ranger to match.
Those in the executive suites will delight in the Bedouin-tent style accommodation with all the comforts of home. A wooden deck with plunge pool awaits hot adventurers as well as gorgeous lounge areas.
The luxury suite is, as the name implies, incredibly luxurious and sits between indigenous trees that offer fantastic shade and privacy. Definitely for those romantic adventurers!

The Best of South Africa Travel map displays the locations of the destinations and accommodation that we have selected and visited; for each item, hovering over or clicking the marker will display a short summary and photo of that place or hotel, and hotel pricing. Follow the links in the info box to the full page listing which has much more information.
Note that the online map offers both a satellite view (click satellite in the top right) and, for some locations, a street level view (Drag the person in the top left onto the map). These let you explore the country; and when you wish to explore in person, or if you have any questions about the places you see, give our staff a call, or request a quote. Our staff regularly visit the places and accommodation that we feature.
When you book a holiday with us we will provide full driving instructions for reaching your accommodation, where necessary; these can be used by yourself, or you could enjoy the luxury of a driver. Alternatively we will arrange private (car rather than coach) transfers for you; helicopter transfers are also possible for some destinations.
