Spectacular Zambia - Highlights Of Zambia

Holidaymakers from around the globe flock to Zambia to witness the magnificent Victoria Falls in Livingstone - the tourist capital of Zambia.

Walking the knife edge bridge to see the permanent rainbow of one of the 7 wonders of Nature, is an experience you’ll never forget while a swim at the edge of the falls in nature’s most spectacular infinity pool should definitely be on your bucket list. If you like the sound of snorkelling and diving in Lake Tanganyika’s crystal-clear waters or dancing the night away in Lusaka, the capital city, a holiday in Zambia is certain to delight. For big game lovers, Zambia’s national parks are one of the continent’s best kept secrets, which means you’ll never have to worry about long queues in the bush to take pictures of the wildlife. Expect sublime solitude as you spend your days ticking off "the Big Five" on safari in one or more of the country’s 20 national parks.

Highlights Of Zambia

Victoria Falls & Livingstone

The Victoria Falls are one of the seven natural wonders of the world and undoubtedly one of the most iconic tourist attractions in Africa. For history buffs and culture vultures, Livingstone is home to some fascinating historical sites and museums while adventure lovers will find some exciting adrenaline pumping activities like whitewater rafting and death-defying gorge swinging. There are also several superb lodges upriver on the Zambezi from which to embark on water-based safaris.

Lusaka

Zambia’s capital city boasts a cosmopolitan vibe with a selection of attractive boutique and international hotels. There are plenty of clubs, upmarket restaurants, bars and shebeens in Lusaka – if you want to party in Zambia, this is the place to be. There are several malls and Manda Hill is considered the most premier, just off the Great East Road. Browsing the many markets, and shopping for trinkets and souvenir’s before flying out is a great way to end a visit.

Kafue National Park

Zambia’s largest and oldest national park, with a good variety of habitats and sceneries. The Lufupa area and the Busanga Plains are, in our opinion, the park’s best options for safaris.

Luanga Valley

The Luangwa is where all the wildlife action is so if holidaymakers can only do one safari destination, this is the one! With high game densities, few visitors and excellent camps, the park boasts one of the highest concentrations of wildlife on the continent, including large amounts of elephant, giraffe, and Cape Buffalo. South Luangwa National Park slopes down from the mountain peaks and into the valley of the Luangwa River—home to vast populations of crocodiles and hippos.

Liuwa Plains National Park

One of Zambia’s numerous hidden gems. It is remote and wild; getting to it is an expedition in itself. Largely untouched, this vast area of grasslands is home to huge herds of plains game and is increasingly famous for its wildebeest migration.

Lower Zambezi & Lake Kariba

The Lower Zambezi National Park is famous for its big game. Home to mind-blowing herds of elephants and buffaloes, an impressive population of Nile crocodiles, plus predators such as lions, leopards and the African wild dog. Together with the wildlife, there is the sparkling waters of the Zambezi River where avid anglers in the know flock to for the excellent tiger fishing. Other popular activities include taking a sunset cruise or paddling through the channels on the lookout for wildlife along the way.

Lake Kariba is the planet’s largest man-made dam, and is a popular destination for houseboating and fishing, which is permitted year-round rather than seasonally like other lakes and rivers in Zambia. With spectacular sunsets, water sports and wildlife viewing on the shoreline it makes for a relaxing holiday.
