Despite being in the southern hemisphere and ten hours’ flight from the UK, South Africa makes a surprisingly good short-break destination.
Thanks to very accommodating night flights, zero jetlag, lots of sun and very little time difference, it's the ideal place in which to escape our winter blues during a handful of nights away.
Cape Town has direct flights from London, and ample distraction – Table Mountain, great beaches, the V&A Waterfront, Robben Island – to fill a week itself. Day-trips to the Winelands are also possible, while many guests drive the Garden Route and fly home from Port Elizabeth.
If you can spare seven nights, we can pair Cape Town, the Winelands and the Garden Route to give you a really good taster of this magnificent country, taking in Cape Town, wine tasting, stunning mountain scenery, marine wildlife and wild flowers – all within 7 days. None of our short breaks will leave you feeling rushed; we want to include as much as possible, but not to the point of sweatiness, stress or exhaustion.
Below are some tailor-made short breaks in South Africa. Every tour will be customised to meet your requirements, interests and budgets.
