Sensational Seychelles - Highlights of the Seychelles

With immaculate beaches, wild nature trails, and friendly hospitality the Seychelles is the epitome of paradise.

Wherever you go and whatever you do, you will always find a pristine beach waiting for you. The inner islands of Mahé, Praslin, and La Digue are famous for their glamorous and luxury five-star resorts. To get the most out of your luxe tropical holiday we recommend spending a few days on each island to experience the perfect combination of relaxation and adventure. In addition to world-class scuba diving, snorkelling, sailing and gourmet picnics on postcard perfect beaches — you can discover giant tortoises, marvel at the world-famous coco de mer, dine on the island’s mouthwatering Creole cuisine or go horse riding along the Indian Ocean shoreline.

Highlights of the Seychelles

Mahé

Mahé is the largest of the islands and home to around 90% of the Seychelles' population with a buzzing capital city, Victoria where holidaymakers can shop for local crafts, sample the delicious Creole cuisine, and visit historic sites like the Clock Tower and Botanical Gardens. The National Museum of History, also known as the National Heritage Centre, highlights the island’s rich history, including its Indigenous cultures with traditional Seychellois artifacts: costumes, music, tools, and pottery, as well as photographs and documents that provide insight into the island’s 300-year history. The Le Jardin Du Roi Spice Garden is located in the lush hills of Les Canelles filled with the heady aromas of spices like vanilla bean, citronelle, cinnamon and nutmeg. To truly taste the spirit of the Seychelles, an exotic rum-tasting experience is available at the Takamaka Rum Distillery.

Praslin

Praslin is the second-largest island in the archipelago and home to around 8,000 residents. Compared to Mahe, it has a more chilled and laid-back ambiance not to mention fewer tourists. The Vallée de Mai can be found within the lush green heart of Praslin, a sanctuary for the endangered giant coco de mer palm which is best known for producing the world’s largest and sexiest nut (which is shaped like a woman’s buttocks). Fans of wildlife will also have the chance to see the elusive Black Parrot, a rare species found only on Praslin Island which nests almost exclusively in decaying coco de mer palm trees. Ranked as one of the best day trips from Praslin, Curieuse Island is a refuge for the adorable Aldebra Giant Tortoise and the best place to meet these gentle giants. For those who are keen to add snorkelling to their itinerary, then St Pierre Islet is the perfect spot to explore the underwater world and see the island’s exotic marine life.

La Digue

La Digue is the third most populous island of the Seychelles and the best way to explore the island is to simply hop on a bike and begin the adventure. Due to island’s small size it’s one of the best ways to get around and a great way to see the local attractions. On almost every beach on the island, visitors will find small local beach huts serving fresh drinks, fruits and cocktails which guarantees many memorable moments cycling across the island only stopping to sample the rum at the local beach bars along the way or ordering a plate of tropical fruits like papaya, banana, pineapple, and coconut. Anse Source D'Argent with its spectacular granite rock formations, sugar soft beaches, crystal clear seas, and palm trees, is not only the most beautiful beach on the island, it’s also famed for being the best beach in the world and the perfect place to take in one of the Seychelle’s iconic Instagram worthy sunsets.
