About
Nestled in the heart of the Thornybush Nature Reserve lies a lodge that will place you in the centre of the hustle and bustle of wildlife but with every luxurious detail catered for. The five star Thornybush Game Lodge offers captivating and untouched views over the seasonal Monwana River – allowing you to enjoy glimpses of the Big Five as they stop for a drink in front of the lodge.
Accommodation
The accommodation at Thornybush Game Lodge is nothing short of sumptuous. Traditional stone and wood is offset by modern textures and styles in it’s 18 luxury suites and two luxury family suites.
Each of the suites boasts a private deck from which to take in the views of the Savannah below. The focus is on privacy at Thornybush and each suite has been designed with the aim of providing a private game viewing experience from every corner of the room, from the floor to ceiling glass windows in the bathroom to the outdoor shower.
The family suites are larger than the suites and feature sleeper couches in the lounge – ensuring every member of the family is comfortable. These suites also boast larger decks with plunge pools – making them the perfect accommodation for families with children under the age of 12. Guests can enjoy all the mod-cons one would expect from a five-star luxury game lodge.
Facilities
If Big Five viewing isn’t enough, Thornybush Game Lodge also has a spa, library and a boma to enjoy locally sourced ingredients delightfully combined to create meals as unforgettable as the night sky above.
Thornybush also offers a babysitting service as well as an extensive kids program to ensure that the kids are well entertained during their stay in the bush.
Child Policy
Children under the age of 12 are welcome in the Family Suites.
The Best of South Africa Travel map displays the locations of the destinations and accommodation that we have selected and visited; for each item, hovering over or clicking the marker will display a short summary and photo of that place or hotel, and hotel pricing. Follow the links in the info box to the full page listing which has much more information.
Note that the online map offers both a satellite view (click satellite in the top right) and, for some locations, a street level view (Drag the person in the top left onto the map). These let you explore the country; and when you wish to explore in person, or if you have any questions about the places you see, give our staff a call, or request a quote. Our staff regularly visit the places and accommodation that we feature.
When you book a holiday with us we will provide full driving instructions for reaching your accommodation, where necessary; these can be used by yourself, or you could enjoy the luxury of a driver. Alternatively we will arrange private (car rather than coach) transfers for you; helicopter transfers are also possible for some destinations.
