About
Along the Great Fish River you’ll find Kwandwe – one of the most well-loved game reserves in South Africa. The expansive 22,00 hectare pristine reserve will feel like yours alone to explore, making it one of the best safari holiday spots. Feel the warmth of the community while sitting under the shade of every tree and the adventure of true-Africa every time you hear the roar of a lion.
The prominence of the Big Five at Kwandwe will leave you spoilt for choice. In fact, you might just find yourself even more spellbound by the incredible bird life that this area is renowned for – after all, it is home to the majestic Fish Eagle and endangered national bird of South Africa, the Blue Crane.
Accommodation
Privacy is a big element of all of the accommodation at Kwandwe, but none is more exclusive than their Melton Manor. This contemporary 4-bedroom villa overlooks the Afromontane Forest and harks back to a time of traditional African game reserve stays but with modern touches that add a certain sense of chicness.
No expense was spared when creating the sumptuous suites at Melton Manor as rich fabrics and hides are used to create a feeling of refinement, offset by natural hues of stone, wood and pewter materials.
Each room is a spacious suite with private verandahs and a collection of spaces to truly call your own. From oversized bathtubs to beds big enough to sleep a pride of lions, you’ll truly be spoilt for choice when it comes to choosing a place to relax at Melton Manor.
Those lucky enough to stay at this, one of two private villas at Kwandwe, will enjoy delicious fare prepared by a private chef after an adventure filled day led by a private guide, driver and tracking team and of course butler to tend to guests every whim.
Facilities
Kwandwe offers adventure-seekers the best game viewing in the Eastern Cape. From game drives, to bush walks and walking safaris, there is plenty of opportunity to not just see the Big Five but to walk in their footsteps.
For those in search of sheer relaxation, Kwandwe offers luxurious and natural in-room pampering while budding chefs can partake in a cooking class or two during their stay.
Kwandwe does plenty to cater for the kids too with plenty of activities, day trips and educational past-times to keep even the youngest children entertained, ensuring a great luxury holiday for all.

Children of all ages are welcome at Melton Manor.
The Best of South Africa Travel map displays the locations of the destinations and accommodation that we have selected and visited; for each item, hovering over or clicking the marker will display a short summary and photo of that place or hotel, and hotel pricing. Follow the links in the info box to the full page listing which has much more information.
Note that the online map offers both a satellite view (click satellite in the top right) and, for some locations, a street level view (Drag the person in the top left onto the map). These let you explore the country; and when you wish to explore in person, or if you have any questions about the places you see, give our staff a call, or request a quote. Our staff regularly visit the places and accommodation that we feature.
When you book a holiday with us we will provide full driving instructions for reaching your accommodation, where necessary; these can be used by yourself, or you could enjoy the luxury of a driver. Alternatively we will arrange private (car rather than coach) transfers for you; helicopter transfers are also possible for some destinations.
