About
Madikwe is one of the largest game reserves in South Africa but due do its focus on preservation it is one of the lesser known safari lodges on the continent. However, this hidden gem is well known for concentrating on conservation and is a proud home to the Big Five.
A safari experience is personal for everyone and what better way to enjoy it than while staying in your own private lodge. Dithaba Lodge is exactly that – a private lodge for the discerning safari traveler in search of that extra little bit of luxury.
With a name, meaning “Mountain” in Tswana, it is only natural that this gorgeous lodge is found hidden away on the mountainside. Due to its location, guests lucky enough to stay here enjoy remarkable and expansive views of the reserve.
Accommodation
Dithaba Lodge comprises 4 suites, perfect for larger families or groups of friends. Surrounded by nature, there really is little noise here other than the crackling fire or the roar of a lion reverberating across the plains – in visible sight from the lodge.
The rooms are all ensuite and feature their own private plunge pools as well as private decks. The décor in each is tastefully done with a modern safari style in mind with sophisticated aesthetics found in every corner.
Colours are reminiscent of the hues found in the savanna in an effort to make the transition from outdoors to indoors as natural as the surroundings themselves.
Facilities
Besides the private plunge pools found in every suit, there is also a gorgeous private dining room and a boma for evening meals around a roaring fire. Not forgetting the spa facilities at Madikwe which are a little different to other safari lodges. Here, instead of you going to spa, the spa comes to you and guests can enjoy private pampering in the comfort of their own suite.
Child Policy
Children of all ages allowed on condition of the entire Dithaba Lodge being booked by the same party.
The Best of South Africa Travel map displays the locations of the destinations and accommodation that we have selected and visited; for each item, hovering over or clicking the marker will display a short summary and photo of that place or hotel, and hotel pricing. Follow the links in the info box to the full page listing which has much more information.
Note that the online map offers both a satellite view (click satellite in the top right) and, for some locations, a street level view (Drag the person in the top left onto the map). These let you explore the country; and when you wish to explore in person, or if you have any questions about the places you see, give our staff a call, or request a quote. Our staff regularly visit the places and accommodation that we feature.
When you book a holiday with us we will provide full driving instructions for reaching your accommodation, where necessary; these can be used by yourself, or you could enjoy the luxury of a driver. Alternatively we will arrange private (car rather than coach) transfers for you; helicopter transfers are also possible for some destinations.
