This is a very easy hiking trail in the Cape Point Nature Reserve, discovering three different ship wrecks off the coast as you go. The 3 hour walk includes exploring caves, listening to tales of shipwrecked explorers and ends with a dip in the sea with penguins. Take a packed picnic lunch from the hotel and enjoy a day of clean ocean air and exercise with the family.

Day 3

Enjoy a whole day exploring the beautiful mountains and valleys of the Winelands on a totally family friendly private tour.

Day 4

After breakfast, head off on an easy 2 hour drive to Hermanus. Explore the delightful little seaside town, stop for lunch at one of the many restaurants along the promenade and watch the "dassies" darting around the rocks. Between June and October, expect to see more than one species of whale lurking just beyond the breakers. Spend 3 nights at Grootbos Private Nature Reserve in a 2 bedroom Luxury Suite on a full board basis.

Day 5

Grootbos has an enormous amount of fabulous activities for children of this age. At check in, you will be introduced to your own personal ranger, who will look after you for the duration of your stay. Start the day off with a gentle hike through the Milkwood Forest, learning about the flora and fauna of the local area. This afternoon, spend the afternoon at the stables, and enjoy a ride down to the beach (subject to ability) for a canter along the shoreline.

Day 6

After breakfast this morning, you will be taken down to Gaansbaai harbour for a trip onboard Grootbos' private shark boat for a morning of great white shark spotting. Brave children can don a wetsuit and climb into the shark cave with Dad, or observe from the top deck with Mum!

Day 7

After a final breakfast at Grootbos, jump into the car and head off on an easy 5 hour drive up to the heart of Nature's Valley, just on the outskirts of Plettenberg Bay. Check into Kurland Hotel for 3 nights on a bed and breakfast basis, in a luxury room with loft. Mum can enjoy a treatment at the Spa, whilst Dad takes the children exploring the estate on quad bikes, followed by a splash about in one of the two pools. Dinner can be enjoyed in the beautiful restaurant with fine dining for Mum and Dad and including some great healthy options for the children too. Orders for fussy eaters can be discussed with the obliging chef on check in.

Day 8

Breakfasts at Kurland are a real treat! Pack a picnic lunch and head off to explore the nearby towns of Knysna and Plettenberg Bay. Monkeyland and Birds of Eden are fabulously entertaining for children of this age group and are right on your doorstep. The Robberg Peninsular offers a 7km nature trail that is easily achievable, and includes a deserted beach and offers birds eye views of great white sharks and seals in the bay below.

Day 9

Spend the morning on a boat based whale watching expedition whereby you might get to see the southern right whales breaching and blowing. Spend the afternoon at the pool back at the hotel, and perhaps enjoy a family horse-ride before another scrumptious evening meal.

Day 10

This morning you will head off to Port Elizabeth on an easy 2 hour drive up past lovely coastal towns and villages. Drop off the car at the airport where you will be met by your private driver who will take you to Kwandwe Private Game Reserve (2 hours transfer).
