This full day tour is an ideal choice for families of four or more, or for groups of friends who want to explore the city in a fun way.
This morning you will be met by your guide at your hotel and driven into the city where you start your scavenger hunt on foot. The experience is designed to highlight the history of Cape Town and the cultures that make up the people of the city in a fun way. You will be provided with clues at every stage and will be required to collect items and photographs, prepare some local food and interact with people that enhance your experience and appreciation of the city.
Armed with both a digital camera and an instant camera, you make your way through the city with your guide. At each stop, you will be assigned a task such as collecting or making a craft or food item or taking a photograph, as your guide discusses the history or cultural significance behind it. Just before noon, you make your way to Signal Hill to see the firing of the Noon Gun, before stopping for an interactive lunch in the Bo-Kaap. Find out how South Africans have blended different cultures in local foods as you make and eat a traditional Cape Malay meal.
Your hunt continues after lunch with some inner city wine tasting and a chance to see how Capetonians are using their creative talents to make a living. After an allowance for shopping, you will head up to the cableway station for your cable car ride up Table Mountain.
Enjoy the city from above, taking in the key sights from the mountain, before you descend with your guide who will return you to your hotel.
A special travelogue with your scavenger hunt loot, photos, etc. will be gifted to you at the end of your tour, as a reminder of your visit to the Mother City.
Cost excludes Table Mountain tickets due to weather dependency.
No alcohol is served during lunch due to it being taken in a muslim home.
The Best of South Africa Travel map displays the locations of the destinations and accommodation that we have selected and visited; for each item, hovering over or clicking the marker will display a short summary and photo of that place or hotel, and hotel pricing. Follow the links in the info box to the full page listing which has much more information.
Note that the online map offers both a satellite view (click satellite in the top right) and, for some locations, a street level view (Drag the person in the top left onto the map). These let you explore the country; and when you wish to explore in person, or if you have any questions about the places you see, give our staff a call, or request a quote. Our staff regularly visit the places and accommodation that we feature.
When you book a holiday with us we will provide full driving instructions for reaching your accommodation, where necessary; these can be used by yourself, or you could enjoy the luxury of a driver. Alternatively we will arrange private (car rather than coach) transfers for you; helicopter transfers are also possible for some destinations.
