About
Acknowledged as one of the Western Cape’s most extraordinary coastal destinations, The Marine is a mecca for whale-watchers in Walker Bay and for those who enjoy being pampered in luxurious surroundings. It is also a stone's-throw away from one of the greatest densities of the endangered Great White Shark and selection of fynbos species in the Cape.
Accommodation
A selection of 40 suites and luxury rooms, many with awe-inspiring seascape views and balconies. Whilst others offer fireplaces and views of the courtyard or partial sea views.
Activities
The Marine offers a host of activities for children of all ages including marine safaris– a magical adventure which takes them exploring the nearby tidal pools for marine life. Other child-friendly activities include whale watching, bowling and croquet. There are babysitters on hand for parents wanting some precious time off. Family picnics can be arranged.
For adults, perhaps take a stroll along the cliff path to the nearby golf club or into the bustling town centre. Enjoy a cocktail in the Sun Lounge or relax by the pool or for the more adventurous there is shark diving, horse-riding and sea-kayaking on offer.
Facilities
The hotel offers a heated indoor pool as well as their very own tidal pool where you can swim as close as 100m away from the whales!
Visit the sensational Carchele Beauty Spa or browse the in-house boutique for mementos. You can also savour the incredible cuisine by the Grand Chef Peter Templehoff.
Child Policy
The Marine is very child friendly - with many activities available for all the family.
The Best of South Africa Travel map displays the locations of the destinations and accommodation that we have selected and visited; for each item, hovering over or clicking the marker will display a short summary and photo of that place or hotel, and hotel pricing. Follow the links in the info box to the full page listing which has much more information.
Note that the online map offers both a satellite view (click satellite in the top right) and, for some locations, a street level view (Drag the person in the top left onto the map). These let you explore the country; and when you wish to explore in person, or if you have any questions about the places you see, give our staff a call, or request a quote. Our staff regularly visit the places and accommodation that we feature.
When you book a holiday with us we will provide full driving instructions for reaching your accommodation, where necessary; these can be used by yourself, or you could enjoy the luxury of a driver. Alternatively we will arrange private (car rather than coach) transfers for you; helicopter transfers are also possible for some destinations.
