About
With a private ranger, tracker, butler and chef on hand, the list of things for you to worry about at &Beyond Phinda Homestead is... well, non-existent. At this exclusive-use luxury villa, which sleeps eight, you rise when you want, embark on safari drives when you fancy, loll in the infinity pool for as long as you like, and scoff only meals that you’ve personally picked. All around is the Phinda Game Reserve, which almost guarantees your encountering the Big Five thanks to its rich range of habitat.
Accommodation
The four spacious, stylish suites are air-conditioned, with uninterrupted vistas of the animal-rich bushveld. Large French windows allow light to filter in, while there are bathtubs and outdoor showers. Interactive kitchens and sitting rooms leads out onto expansive wooden decks and ponds affording extra relaxation areas. Best of all are the small details: from decorative Zulu curios to beds purposely positioned for mattress-based game-viewing.
Facilities
The central rim-flow pool is ringed by plump cushions and beckoning daybeds. Slumber there during the heat of the day, or watch for shooting stars after dark. Inside, a small gym boasts yet more incredible views. Dinners – inventive pan-African cuisine – are given much thought, and served either in a lovely, lantern-lit outdoor boma or out on the bush itself, in impromptu locations.
Activities
With your own dedicated ranger, tracker and 4x4 vehicle, there’s no set schedule for game drives. The best bets for encountering wildlife, however, are on early morning and dusk safaris – expect to see the Big Five, and many a cheetah. Birdwatching and educative ranger walks are complimentary, while other activities – thrilling flights to glorious Maputaland beaches, night-time turtle drives (November to January), deep sea fishing, in-room massages – cost extra.
Child Policy
Children are welcome but there are no specific facilities. Babysitting is available on request.
The Best of South Africa Travel map displays the locations of the destinations and accommodation that we have selected and visited; for each item, hovering over or clicking the marker will display a short summary and photo of that place or hotel, and hotel pricing. Follow the links in the info box to the full page listing which has much more information.
Note that the online map offers both a satellite view (click satellite in the top right) and, for some locations, a street level view (Drag the person in the top left onto the map). These let you explore the country; and when you wish to explore in person, or if you have any questions about the places you see, give our staff a call, or request a quote. Our staff regularly visit the places and accommodation that we feature.
When you book a holiday with us we will provide full driving instructions for reaching your accommodation, where necessary; these can be used by yourself, or you could enjoy the luxury of a driver. Alternatively we will arrange private (car rather than coach) transfers for you; helicopter transfers are also possible for some destinations.
