About
Ideally located for those travelling to or from Kruger National Park or surrounding reserves, this colonial manor house also offers exceptional wildlife opportunities in its own right. It is scenically situated within the Blue Canyon Conservancy, where you can see four of the Big Five – there are no buffalo. Also close to Blyde River Canyon, the boutique residence comes with a pool, a spa, opulent rooms and fabulous Drakensberg Mountains backdrop.
Accommodation
The eight rooms open onto landscaped gardens and come with a dose of style: clean lines and space around four-poster beds. The Acacia Family Suite has inter-connecting rooms around a shared bathroom, while the luxurious Jackalberry Suite boasts a private veranda. Extra privacy is on offer in the Garden Suites, but most romantic is the Leadwood Honeymoon Suite, with floor-to-ceiling windows and a private, glass-walled bathroom with a spa bath and outdoor shower.
Facilities
After a day spent exploring, loll in the large pool, whose deck overlooks a busy waterhole. As elephants glug H2O, you can sip sundowner cocktails. A sumptuous spa offers a range of massages and beauty rituals, with similar relaxation available in those tranquil gardens. Served inside the thatched house or around a campfire, creative dinners blend traditional South African and contemporary cooking, including a large repertoire of vegetarian dishes.
Activities
Game drives and bush walks are available on the Blue Canyon Conservancy. safaris are in nearby Thornybush Private Game Reserve if you’ve not already sorted your Kruger adventures. Many more thrills are available in and around Blyde River Canyon, from river-rafting to hot-air ballooning. Leave time to admire fabled rock formations like Bourke’s Luck and the Three Rondavels, or head further along the Panorama Route for waterfalls and heritage towns. Khaya Ndlovu’s eager-to-please staff can set up guided tours of all of these stunning attractions, as well as day trips to Kruger Park, horseback rides and elephant sanctuary trips.
Child Policy
All ages are welcome. Babysitting and family activities can be arranged in advance at a surcharge.
